Joining Us At Shire Oak
Admissions September 2020
Primary places for September 2020 will be allocated on Thursday 16th April, from 8am onwards. If you have been offered a place at our school, please do let us know if you will be accepting the place using email@example.com Due to the current school closures we have not finalised our plan for induction activities this summer, but will write to you when we know a little more. For all other queries, please check www.leeds.gov.uk/offerdayprimary to see if your question is answered there and then get in touch if we can help. We look forward to meeting our new Reception Class cohort as soon as we can!
We are a Voluntary Controlled School therefore admissions to the school are organised through Leeds City Council. You may contact us directly to find out about available spaces in specific year groups.
Leeds City Council have now determined priority catchment areas to help parents understand where their nearest school is (apart from academies, free schools, voluntary aided schools and any others that are their own admissions authority). Maps denoting the new catchment priority shapes which will apply for admissions into Reception from September 2020 can be found here. Links to maps for individual schools can be found here then by clicking on the individual school and then the link for (school) Primary Admission policy 2020-21.
Should you wish to apply for a place, the information you need is available here in our Admissions Information for 2019 - 2020.

We host several Open Mornings throughout the year. Provisionally, our next open mornings/evenings will be on:
Tuesday 12th November 2019 - 9.15 - 11.15am
Open Evening - Tuesday 12th November 2019 - 6.00 pm
Thursday 9th January 2020 - 9.15 - 11.15am
During the morning our older children will be conducting tours of school and parents from FOSOPS (Friends of Shire Oak Primary School) will be serving refreshments and answering any questions you would like to ask them. We feel that this helps to give a very honest picture of life at our school.
We also offer an evening meeting for people who can't join us at our daytime event. Although we hope that we will still be able to offer tours led by our pupils, inevitably it is a somewhat colder experience with an empty building and none of the bustle of an ordinary busy school day.
If you cannot make it to our Open Morning, but would like to arrange a visit to school on another day, please do get in touch as the headteacher is always happy to meet parents and arrange tours of school when you can see the children learning.
