Welcome to our website. Shire Oak CE Primary School is a one form entry, close knit school on a leafy, spacious site in the middle of Headingley.
At Shire Oak our values are very important to us and inform the way we work with children and their families. Children know that our expectations are to Be Kind, Be Safe and Be Your Best.
If you are considering Shire Oak for your child’s education, please read our prospectus and contact us to make a visit to school or to ask us any questions.

We are trying to avoid cumbersome staggered starts and queuing, so please continue to observe social distancing in the kind and courteous way you did before the summer. If another family arrives at the gate at the same time as you, please let them go first. Whatever your own personal assessment of risk, please make sure everyone in our school community feels safe and confident coming into our grounds. Make your way to your child’s year group circle in the playground, but listen out for them being called as we may ask children to come and wash their hands and enter the classroom directly rather than first meeting and greeting on the circle.
We will continue to learn and play outdoors as much as possible and keep doors and windows open for good ventilation, so please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the (changeable) weather. We will be avoiding indoor wet play even more stringently than we currently do!
We are continuing to update our COVID-19 risk assessment in the light of changes to the government guidance and in response to the work of Leeds City Council health and safety team. We will keep it under review and refine it as the term goes on. One thing that would help, at least initially, is if you could bring your child’s water bottle each day cleaned at home and filled with water.
If your family has been caught out by quarantining expectations following a trip abroad, please contact us to let us know.
If your child or anyone in your household has symptoms of coronavirus, you must not enter the school grounds until you have had a test and negative result/ sought medical advice. Please contact us to keep us up to date about this, if applicable.
